  What are the manual therapy and its main principles?
 Using no instruments, except for the hands, a doctor renders influence on your spine, making effort in the right direction, which helps vertebrae to occupy the proper position. A lot of different receptions could be mentioned in manual therapy, but there are two groups of methods, that are usually used:
1. Non-specific manipulations, where hands, feet, head and trunk of patient are used. Making them maximally wide motions, with greater amplitude, than a patient is able to carry out, a doctor aims to "free" one or another joints, give them the greater volume of motion;
2. Specific manipulations, where a doctor affects  certain points of the back and neck of patient by strong, exactly directed motions. Manual therapy of spine has being practiced during many ages. Last 50 years, however, people equate it with chiropractics, and partly therefore orthopedists consider it "alternative" treatment. However many of  these points of view already now change because the number of people with the problems of the motion system, which osteopaths  and chiropractors helped in any case, grows.

 What distinctions between chiropractor and osteopath?
 Rapid manipulation is the most characteristic for chiropractors, although, certainly, they use other types of influence. But, nevertheless, the biggest difference is that chiropractors prefer manual therapy to other types of treatment. In obedience to one of researches, on the account of chiropractors - 94% of all spinal  manipulations, osteopaths - 4%, and ordinary surgeons and orthopedists remain 2%.

 Why chiropractor is also called bone breaker?
 Only as a joke. On that simple reason, that, when a specialist conducts the session of manual therapy, vertebrae makes a crisp sound. It takes place because the joints between vertebrae slightly go away and certain similarity of vacuum appears into them, and then arthril surfaces come back into place with an easy click. An alike sound turns out, when a man crunches by knuckles. Many patients of chiropractors expect usually this characteristic crack and crunch, that actually not necessary: if there is no sound, it does not mean that manual therapy does not work on you. And on the contrary, if all your body bursts at every touch, it does not yet mean that treatment passes successfully.
