FAQs about Herbs

faqs-herbWhat is the difference between all forms of medication: tablets, teas, capsules and tincture?
The main reasons of such diversity of forms are cultural differences, different origin and preferences. The majority of people prefer alcohol extracts. The taste of such extracts depends on the amount of alcohol in it. Some producers reduce alcohol content in order to make medication tastier.
People who can’t stand the taste of the natural components often use pills and capsules. Tablets made of materials, which are intensely constricted and often contain binding components. Herbs in the form of tablets are dried. But some people might have not very strong digestive systems, which will not allow them to digest the coat of the tablet.
Capsules contain the extract of the herb. This form of medication is also not very appropriate for older people or people who have problems with their digestive systems.
Teas are very popular in the Eastern countries. There is a special technique of steeping herbal tea. A tea-pot has to be covered with a lid on order to save essential oils.

Can I define whether a tincture is high quality one by its smell?
A good quality herbal tincture as usual has the same smell as fresh herb it is made of. So, if you know the smell of this herb in nature you can rely on your nose. One of the way to buy a good product-ask your relatives or friends for references. They might have used some of the medication, which brought good effect. But price stays the main indicator.

How do I know what herb will be good for my health?
First you should consult your practitioner and tell him about your complaints so that he can identify your problem. You can also read some articles and magazines to find out about your problems and appropriate herbs for curing it. But don’t use any medication without consulting a doctor or practitioner.
